Hidalgo County reports 20 more coronavirus-related deaths, 325 additional cases
Hidalgo County reported on Wednesday 20 more deaths due to coronavirus complications, as well as 325 additional cases — bringing the total number of fatalities in the county to 1,470 and the total of confirmed coronavirus cases to 30,046.
Among those who died is a female from Donna younger than 20.
“I have been encouraged by the direction of the numbers this week, but this jump in the number of new cases is concerning,” said Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez. “The bottom line is we must remain diligent about the dangers of this virus. And we all should consider any additional deaths from this disease tragic. My condolences go out to the family and friends of these victims.”
According to a news release from the county, there are currently 230 COVID-19 patients under hospitalization, including 84 in intensive care units.
Of the total number of people who tested positive in the Hidalgo County since the beginning of the pandemic, 26,486 have been released from isolation. According to the news release, there are currently 2,090 known active cases in Hidalgo County.
