MCALLEN – A McAllen resident is wondering what is killing their grass, but it’s not just in one place.

It’s in the majority of the neighborhood – the green grass is turning to brown grass.

It’s a strange thing to start seeing patches of brown grass popping up after decent rains.

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension says the occurrence typically tends to be called “take-all root rot”.

If you’d like for your grass and soil tested, visit the Texas Plant Disease Diagnostic Lab page on the extension’s website.
