WESLACO – With wet weather in the Rio Grande Valley’s forecast, mosquitoes are on the minds of health officials. Luckily, there is no evidence pests can pass the coronavirus, but they do carry other diseases.

In Weslaco, mosquito spray machines are currently making rounds through neighborhoods. However, in other areas, the virus has become the priority.

Chief Administrative Officer Eddie Olivarez at Hidalgo County Health Department says his office has received complaints and plan to address them soon.

In Cameron County, Environmental Health Director Gustavo Olivares says no complaints have been reported, but are ready to act.
