Conflicting Reports Continue on Thousands Missing in Tamaulipas
WESLACO – Thousands of people are missing in Tamaulipas.
Conflicting reports continue about how many people exactly are missing south of our border.
The president of an association called ‘Jusiticia Tamaulipas’ or Justice for Tamaulipas says they track those who have gone missing, going back over a decade.
“We're really talking of a number between 14,000 to 15,000 people,” says Geovani Barrios Moreno.
The government has classified those who went missing into two groups – those part of organized crime and those fighting against it – but he believes there is a third group, which includes innocent victims caught in a violent environment where they were kidnapped for ransom.
KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez has the details.
