Attorney Explains Barratry Charge following Mission Paralegal Arrest

MCALLEN – The Texas Rangers and the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office confirmed the arrest of a paralegal from Mission.

Rangers say Juan Salvador Tovar reached out to victims of a car crash offering medical attention and legal counsel.

He's charged with barratry.

Under the law in Texas, you're are not supposed to be approached by anyone offering medical or legal services for 30 days after an accident or a disaster.

The law is being broken.

 "You've got individuals that are showing up at the hospital room, or their home, offering victims services they haven't requested," says attorney Jesse Gonzalez.
